DJ FeelFree is the backbone
of all VU’s writing and production activities
and has been involved on the London underground dance
circuit since 1989. He is a product of the acid house
scene from the late eighties and first began DJing
in 1990. His natural flair for beat mixing was not
where it was going to stop as the urge to write and
produce his own music was calling…
He went to college to acquire technical skills whilst
also getting together with various producers to write
dance music. Having had several underground releases,
natural progression led him and VJ Coco to set up
VU in 2000, an audiovisual dance band that would provide
fresh, lashing breakbeats with visuals to match.
Since then he has successfully collaborated with many
artists and producers. The result has been assorted
tracks being picked up for a variety of different
compilations, TV title music for BBC2’s Desi
DNA and remix work for the likes of Asian Dub Foundation
and Nitin Sawhney.
At the top of 2004, VU welcomed into the camp hot
new talent, vocalist Damion Mulrain. Working alongside
FeelFree the combination has proved to be dynamic
musically, lyrically and vocally and the last few years have
seen the two of them write an array of new and original
material for VUs debut album "Keep The Grime
On" and new album for 2008 "Fired Up".
